Fuselit is looking for work that you wrought or forged using the next issue's title (a spur word) as your inspiration point. We have no way of checking, but may be hesitant about publishing pieces that seem to have no fathomable connection, because it would defy our agenda. By all means include an explanation.
Multiple submissions are OK. We don't mind if the work is accepted elsewhere, as long as you let us know. No work previously debuted in print or online magazines, please, although obviously it's fine if you've just put it up on your own site or a workshopping site.
Poetry
Fuselit does not usually publish epic poetry, due to its compact size. We try to be generous and open-minded in our assessment of poetry, but our general taste is for the off-kilter and the insidious. We like adventures in form, but do not like purple. We really baulk at Jane Hirshfield, but have recently softened towards Seamus Heaney, who is nowhere near as bad as some of his admirers make him out to be.
Prose
Fuselit does not usually publish prose over 1000 words long, due to its being miniature. Vignettes, flash fiction, prose poetry and fuellitons work best.
Art
Paintings, sketches, scribbles and photography all very welcome. Be aware that pictures will be scaled down to fit on an A6 page, or across an A5 landscape. We will be printing in black and white for the foreseeable future. If your submission is full colour or large and detailed, however, we can publish them on the site at the time of the issue's launch, as well as in the issue.
Fuselit encourages sequences of pictures.
Sound
Performance poetry, pop tunes, experimental sound and readings all delightful. Fuselit only has space for 21 minutes of music and sound with each issue from Proof onwards, so bear that in mind when submitting. A 3 minute song is easier to squeeze on than a 12 minute recital.
